Steak 48 recently opened its at the Del Mar Highlands, bringing new life into the former Searsucker space. This 12,500-square-foot location can accommodate 487 guests, including features like an in-house butcher shop, a 3,000-bottle wine vault, and eight private dining options.
The new San Diego establishment marks the ninth addition to the renowned Mastro family's restaurant portfolio. Widely recognized for their success with Mastro's Steakhouse, they introduced Steak 44 in Arizona, with the Steak 48 location in Chicago earning acclaim as one of the city's premier steakhouses. Additionally, the Mastro group is venturing into seafood with Ocean 48, slated to make its debut in Newport Beach early next year.
The ambiance is a blend of historic charm and contemporary vibrancy, with surfers' portraits adorning the walls and a lively soundtrack ranging from Dusty Springfield to Joe Strummer. The staff's unpretentious nature adds to the approachable atmosphere that the founders aim to cultivate.
