Horsemanship is a time-honored tradition here in the community of Rancho Santa Fe. The area features miles of private equestrian trails, alongside numerous boarding locations, riding facilities, and training grounds—all set against the stunning backdrop of Southern California’s coastal highlands.

Rancho Riding Club

Since 1946, the Rancho Riding Club has been the principal equestrian center in Rancho Santa Fe, and it remains one of the most esteemed institutions in the community. The Club features a horse riding school and stables with:
 
  • 60 indoor stalls
  • 50 outside corrals
  • 4 riding arenas
  • A round pen
  • A clubhouse
  • Tack rooms & wash racks

The Club is home to four of Southern California’s most respected equestrian trainers and instructors, catering to a variety of skill levels, ages, and disciplines. The Rancho Riding Club also hosts riding shows and summer camps annually, making it a vibrant hub for equestrian activities.

 

McArdle Equestrian

Located at the Albert Court Stables in Rancho Santa Fe, McArdle Equestrian is a full-service hunter, jumper, and equitation show stable. Operated by Jason and Susan McArdle, the facility caters to riders aiming for national and regional achievements. Their comprehensive training package includes:
 
  • Unlimited weekly rides & lessons
  • Grooming & tack services
  • Body clipping, wrapping, & pre/post-ride grooming
  • Daily turnout in large paddocks
  • Training includes national & regional show circuits

Hegewisch Stables

With over 25 years of experience, Hegewisch Stables is a professional hunter-jumper training and riding school. 
 
  • Offers lessons and training for beginners through advanced
  • Summer and seasonal camps
  • Mindfulness-focused approach to horsemanship
  • Horses provided for lessons
  • Pony rides for children
  • Birthday party events for children

 

Del Mar Horsepark

Though technically in Del Mar, this facility services many RSF riders. Del Mar Horsepark is a 65-acre equestrian facility managed by HITS, offering premier equestrian competitions.
 
  • Hosts Hunter, CSI Jumper, and CDI-level Dressage events
  • Multiple large all-weather arenas
  • Permanent show stalls and barns
  • On-site dining and event hospitality during events
  • Hosts national and international competitions

 

Ridgemar Equestrian Center

Also located in Del Mar, Ridgemar Equestrian Center offers full-service training in hunters, jumpers, and equitation within a family-friendly atmosphere. The center focuses on developing proper technique and horsemanship.

Fairbanks Riding Club

Situated within the gated community of Fairbanks Ranch, Fairbanks Riding Club offers a peaceful and secure environment for riders and their horses. The club is open to both residents and non-residents and  includes:
 
  • 36-stall barn and 20 covered outdoor corrals
  • 6 turnouts
  • 3 arenas, including a mirrored dressage court and jumping arena
  • European-style covered horse walker
  • Direct access to Rancho Santa Fe’s private trail system
  • Grooming stations and tack storage
  • Open to both residents and non-residents

 

Rancho Cielo Equestrian Facility

Established in 2016, Rancho Cielo Equestrian Facility spans 11 acres on the east side of Rancho Santa Fe. The facility offers a comprehensive range of amenities and services for equestrian enthusiasts:
 
  • 2 jumping arenas & 1 full-size dressage arena
  • Western ring and a multipurpose schooling ring
  • Multiple barns with 40 stalls & Sheltered corrals 
  • Large tack rooms, upgraded cross ties, and wash racks
  • Lunge rings and turnouts
  • Access to RSF trails
  • Full and half training programs
  • Lessons and clinics
  • Horse care and grooming
  • Schoolmasters available upon request

 

Osuna Ranch

Osuna Ranch is a historic 25-acre equestrian facility managed by the Rancho Santa Fe Association. The ranch hosts training programs by Hap Hansen Stables, catering to various equestrian disciplines. It offers amenities such as:
 
  • 34 horse stalls across 4 barns
  • 16 paddocks and 13 grazing pastures
  • Grooming areas & tack rooms
  • 1 Riding arena with European fiber footing and 1 exercise ring
  • Access to 50+ miles of private RSF trails.
  • Grand Prix style jumps
  • Covered viewing area
  • Horse boarding, full service training and lessons, and daily exercise
  • Available to association members and their guests

 

Rancho El Camino Equestrian

Rancho El Camino Equestrian is a smaller local facility that focuses on horseback riding lessons and boarding services. They provide training programs and have facilities suitable for various equestrian activities.
 
  • 6 riding arenas including Hunter/Jumper and Dressage sand rings
  • Over 40 indoor box stalls
  • Riding school arena and full trail course
  • 60’ and 50’ round pens
  • 2 turnout paddocks
  • 5 cross tie areas, 4 wash rack stalls, and tack rooms
  • Riding lessons for children, teens, and adults
  • General boarding and full daily care services
  • Personalized instruction
  • Suitable for recreational riders and entry-level competitors
