As a pet lover who has two Golden Retrievers and two Bengal cats, I’ve had my fair share of vet visits over the years. Over time I’ve found a few places I trust that offer everything from routine checkups to urgent care. These are the veterinary care options that my friends and I have personally used and recommend.

RSF Veterinary Hospital

RSF Veterinary Hospital focuses on delivering primary care for both dogs and cats, supporting their health at every life stage and "treating your pets like their own". Their vet team provides general and specialized care for dogs and cats, including:

• Wellness exams
• Vaccinations
• Preventive care
• Routine and advanced dentistry
• Surgery
• In-house diagnostics like ultrasound and x-rays
• Euthanasia 
• House calls

Online Services: Request a medication refill online, Vetsource for home delivery of pet food and supplies, and more information on local emergency and urgent care facilities.

Hours of Operation: Closed on Memorial day and July 4th so remember to prep your pets with anxiety due to fireworks.

American Animal Hospital

American Animal Hospital in San Diego provides comprehensive veterinary services for dogs and cats, including:

Helen Woodward Animal Center

Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe offers a range of services for pet owners. Club Pet Boarding offers accommodations for dogs, cats, and small animals, as well as daycare, grooming, and training services. The Center also facilitates pet adoptions, with animals receiving medical exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, and microchipping before adoption. Their Companion Animal Hospital provides veterinary care for dogs and cats, including:

• Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery
• Laser therapy

Helen Woodward Animal Center runs several community programs beyond animal care. They deliver pet food to homebound individuals (over 600,000 meals in 2023), support pets of people experiencing homelessness, and bring therapy animals to hospitals and senior homes.
